Mac & cheese lovers everywhere will be very happy to hear about one of the burgers we’re cooking up for Burgerama 2019. To celebrate the return of this grand event, we took a RAM favorite and put it on a grilled bun! Our famous RAM Mac & Cheese topped with more rich cheddar cheese sauce and applewood smoked bacon on a signature Kaiser
To go along with the Bacon Mac & Cheese Burger, order a premium side of your choice like Sweet Potato Fries or Onion Rings, just to name a couple. Of course, our signature fries and RAM Chips are always there for you to love.
Why stop with just a burger and side when you could pair that combo with one of our delicious, locally-brewed RAM beers? Obviously, any of our beers will taste great alongside the Bacon Mac & Cheese Burger, but we recommend you give Big Red’s India Pale Ale a try. This IPA is assertively bold and hoppy, yet surprisingly smooth. Big Red’s boasts a citrus hop flavor and aroma that’s reminiscent of grapefruit, and it’s perfect to enjoy with a delicious, cheesy burger.

Whoever would’ve thought that notes of banana would taste good in a beer? Probably not many. We say, however, don’t knock it till you try it. The Hefeweizen has long been considered one of the most popular beers in the world. Widespread availability and easy drinking are just two of the many reasons why this style of beer has stood the test of time.
This German wheat beer was first brewed in the 1520s, in Bavarian breweries of Germany. In the beginning, there was one family to rule the production of all Hefeweizen in Bavaria. The House of Wittelsbach ruled over the entire region and controlled the brewing of the beer. The Duke of Wittelsbach, Maximilian I mandated that all breweries in the region brew this beer to his liking. It’s popularity in Bavaria lasted for a couple hundred years before it almost fell off the map completely in the 1700s. It was around this time that darker, more traditional lagers started to make a comeback, and many brewers no longer thought the Hefe was worth brewing. This seems to be a great example of over-saturation in early brewing markets.
Our Hefeweizen is brewed locally with 2-row barley, wheat and Vienna malts, and hopped with Hallertau Mittlefruh. This makes for a cloudy brew, with those famous notes of banana and clove. Unfiltered yeast and wheat allow this beer to be on the lighter side of the spectrum, but still have a bit of a bite to it, perfect for year-round enjoyment. RAM Hefeweizen has not only won the hearts of beer drinkers over the years, but four medals since 2008 as well. Don’t worry about the pronunciation or spelling, just worry about the drinking. We’ve always got a Hefe on tap for you to enjoy.

Dark, smooth and flavorful, the Porter has long been a favorite of avid beer drinkers around the world. Its warm and welcoming profile can be a nice change of pace from other more bitter, hoppy brews. Like most beers, the exact origin of the Porter is hotly disputed amongst brewers and drinkers alike. A popular theory is that the earliest Porters date back to the beginning of the 18th century in Britain. It is said that brewers originally created this style by mixing an older beer with a newer beer and served it. Apparently, this beer cocktail was well received by pub-goers. Based on that theory, sounds like the Porter is the sourdough of beers. The beer became immensely popular amongst with British working class and was especially liked by London-based railway workers called “Porters.” After a long day’s work of loading and unloading passengers and luggage, nothing hit the spot quite like a smooth, malty beer.
We can’t say we brew our Porter by mixing two beers together at the bar, but we do think it tastes pretty good. Presumably still popular with railway workers, our Porter is brewed with 2-Row Barley, Crystal and Wheat malts, and hopped with Cascade and Willamette. It’s won six medals since 1996, including Gold at Great American Beer Festival in 2010 and Gold at the North American Beer Awards in 2018. Stop by the RAM today and try one for yourself!
