TACOMA, WA – The RAM Restaurant & Brewery partnered with Tacoma’s Museum of Glass (MOG) recently and tapped a special Conehead Kolsch beer in its restaurants. $1 from each Conehead sale was donated back to the MOG. The name “Conehead” was a fun way to tie back into the museum’s famous cone where the glass is blown and amazing artwork comes to life. Brewed by the award-winning brewery team at The RAM, Conehead Kolsch featured a light-bodied, mild, and clean malt profile and noble hop character to add a snappy finish. This easy-to-drink beer featured Hallertau and Azacca hops for a not-so-bitter, soft and fruity finish.
The Conehead was available at the Tacoma, Lakewood, Kent, Puyallup, and Federal Way Rams, as well as CI Shenanigans on the waterfront in Tacoma. The partnership was culminated with a beer garden celebration on the plaza outside the Museum to coincide with Glass Fest Northwest, a community event hosted by Museum of Glass and Tacoma Art Museum. Here The RAM poured the last few kegs and celebrated the successful collaboration with the Museum. Final proceeds at the end of the month totaled $3,487!
Museum of Glass Executive Director, Debbie Lenk, said, “Partnering with the RAM was a first for the Museum, and based on the results, I’m hoping there will be more opportunities in the future. From naming the beer, to the tasting party, and finally the beer garden at Glass Fest, this was a terrific collaboration and I’m pleased that we will be able to use the proceeds from this effort to support the Museum’s community programs.”

As the summer fades away and football favorites take the field, The RAM Restaurant and Brewery has tapped their most popular and awarded seasonal brew, Oktoberfest Bier. With a recent gold medal from the 2018 North American Beer Awards, Oktoberfest is on a winning streak with their 6th consecutive piece of NABA hardware to add to the trophy room.
“We brew Oktoberfest with imported German Malts and Hops to create a traditional toasted malt profile and snappy, herbal hop finish. Brewed in the midst of summer and allowed to lager for months prior to release, Oktoberfest beer spends more time lagering than pouring from our taps. Come raise a pint while you can, it’s only available for a limited time!” says Dave Leonard, Director of Brewing Operations.
Stop by your favorite RAM and raise a pint…Lederhosen are optional, but strongly encouraged!

LAKEWOOD, WA – On August 27th, 2018 from 12pm-6pm, The RAM Restaurant & Brewery teamed up with local non-profit organizations Everyone for Veterans and Bloodworks Northwest to host a blood drive at the Lakewood RAM. In partnership with Everyone for Veterans, the goal of the blood drive was to help save lives and raise awareness of the challenges faced by combat veterans and their families, by connecting the public to those who have served. E4V was eager to find a new way to give back the veterans they care so much about, so after some brainstorming and planning, a blood drive and new partnership were in the works.
At the Blood drive, Bloodworks Northwest saw enough donors to save 51 lives. Over 40 donors, including a few RAM employees, contributed to this great effort. As a premier blood supplier reaching over 90 hospitals, the blood donated will go to those in need far and wide. The Everyone for Veterans truck was parked at the RAM, where donors and those curious about the organization could find out more about their work and how they could support veterans in their community, like how to be a part of their wingman program for veterans.
We at the RAM look forward to partnering up with Bloodworks Northwest and E4V in the future to find more ways to give back to our community!

2018 marks the fourth year of The RAM Restaurants & Breweries’ involvement in Ales for ALS, a charity started by Yakima, WA hop farmers Cheryl Hanses and Mike Smith. Ales for ALS was originally inspired by the ALS diagnosis of Cheryl’s older brother six years ago. Cheryl and Mike began by wanting to team up with their friends in the brewing business to raise money for ALS research and treatment efforts. Cheryl and her daughter came up with the phrase ‘Ales for ALS,’ got it trademarked, and what started as a small pilot project has now blossomed into a worldwide effort.
Last year, The Ram was the largest individual contributor to the cause, donating over $20,000. The RAM has raised $39,000 over the last four years. In 2018 the company goal is to raise $25,000. “Ales for ALS is a great event each year that brings together the national community of brewers to collectively raise money for ALS research,” says RAM Director of Brewery Operations Dave Leonard.
In addition to The RAM, the charity sees support from hundreds of US breweries, and even three international breweries in Japan, Germany and the UK. Each year, Cheryl and Mike donate experimental hops to the breweries involved, and in return, a portion of the beer sales are donated to the Ales for ALS charity. In 2018, the charity celebrates the four-year mark of the campaign and marks the $2 million milestone for money raised in support of ALS research and treatment efforts.
This year, RAM brewers teamed up to create a hop blend yielding the IPA dubbed ‘IPA 4 ALS,’ a hazy, golden hued IPA that bursts with tropical hop flavors of mango, peach, and citrus. This year’s blend features Eukuanot, Loral, and Simcoe along with a quartet of experimental hops. For 2018, brewers increased production of the special beer in hopes of further benefiting the cause and raising awareness.
With each purchase of a pint of IPA 4 ALS, $1 will be donated to the Ales for ALS charity. ‘IPA 4 ALS’ is on tap at all RAM locations now.
