The RAM Group Awarded Two Silver Medals from GABF

LAKEWOOD, WA – The RAM Restaurant Group was honored at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO, with two silver medals, including one for their flagship Big Horn Hefeweizen. These medals helped The RAM Restaurant Group reach the 50 medal mark at this prestigious competition! The company won its first GABF medal in 1996!

“It’s really exciting to win 2 silver medals at this year’s GABF. With almost 8000 (7923) beers entered from over 2,200 breweries, the competition was tougher than ever. It’s amazing to see how the GABF has grown over the last few years and it speaks to the quality beer each of our brewers is making as we continue to win medals,” said Dave Leonard, Director of Brewery Operations.

Head Brewer Ty Nash from The RAM’s Highlands Ranch C.B. & Potts brewery landed a win with the flagship Big Horn Hefeweizen. “To receive a medal with a flagship beer makes this experience even more memorable. Given the ability to enter a flagship to represent the quality of beers all of the company brewers produce is a huge honor and very humbling. Winning this medal reassures me that the processes I’m using work and reminds me that this is my true calling,” says Nash of his win. The Big Horn Hefeweizen a German-style brew with characteristic cloudy notes of banana and clove and is available year-round at all company locations.

“Our Big Horn Hefeweizen continues to be recognized as one of the best German-style Hefeweizens in America, also taking a Gold in 2013. Congrats to Ty Nash for brewing the silver medal winning batch,” said Leonard.

The Udder Chaos Coffee Stout won a silver in the Coffee Stout category. “This beer creation was a true collaboration between our Brewers Nick Kannarr and Bill Jenkins from the Northgate Seattle RAM. This beer took Gold at the Washington Beer Awards in June and we wanted to recreate it for GABF. Kannarr brewed the base beer which is an amazing imperial milk stout, rich dark malts layered with chocolate and semi-sweet finish. Jenkins then infused Kannarr’s base beer with a blend of fresh roasted Ethiopian & Brazilian coffee beans, which happens to be roasted in my garage. It was really fun to work together to create this beer, we all thought it had a shot at a medal and we are glad the judges agreed,” says Leonard.
